The Barber
The barber that will say anything out of his mouth!
Keevin Muhammad is the epitome when it comes to representing excellence in barbering.
Born Ke’vin D. Phillips in Holly Springs, Mississippi, he became a master at using his hands by working on his great-grand parents’ farm. Two teenagers frustrated with spending all day in the barbershop, he and his brother started cutting each other’s hair. With three brothers to practice on, there was no cap that would limit the future, highly sought after and recommended barber. During his high school years, he fused a passion for drawing and graffiti style graphics with traditional tapering skills, to create his unique style. Because of this, Keevin views cutting hair as more of an art as opposed to a service.
Early 1989, he attended Moler Barber College in Aurora, Illinois and began his professional career in October 1989 servicing the Aurora, Naperville, and Fox Valley areas. Phase One Beauty and Barber Salon was the first place Mr. Muhammad was given the opportunity to express his talents; he would do so throughout the 90’s.
Brandishing a host of loyal clients, he sprang into the New Millennium with a better sense of how business works; with this new found knowledge came a new venue to showcase his talents as a barber at Yolanda’s House of Beauty. While serving clients at Yolanda’s House of Beauty, he regained his passion for the craft he spent years developing.
In 2006, after 16 years in this business, Mr. Muhammad relocated to his current place of business, Whatever It Takes Barber and Beauty Salon, located at 1725 N. Farnsworth Ave., Aurora, IL.
